Tamam Restaurant

Tamam is one of the most famous places to eat in Chania Old Town as it has been a top choice for both locals and tourists for more than three decades. Tamam is a Turkish word that means: ok, precisely, exactly. As the name suggests you’re going to eat exactly what you’ve been hoping to. Tamam offers both traditional Cretan dishes along with some Turkish specialties, like Giaourtlou Lamb, lamb with yogurt and some tomato-based spicy sauce on top.

Reason to go

The main reason to go to Tamam is the food. It’s not a coincidence that it has been a top choice for so many years. Everything it serves is delicious! Even though your order cannot go wrong, another dish, besides Giaourtlou, I love and I’d recommend that you order is Hunkiar Begienti: lamb with smoked aubergine puree. The second reason you’d visit Tamam is the location and atmosphere. It’s hosted in a 15th century building that used to be a Venetian Hammam. Though you can feel the history of the building if you’re sitting inside, when in Tamam I prefer to sit at one of the few tables that are outside. Tamam is located in one of the most beautiful cobblestone alleys in the Old Town of Chania. As the alley is quite busy, you’ll also get to watch the people strolling up and down while you eat.
