K2 Café-Bar

K2 Café-Bar is located in the eastern part of the Old Port of Chania. It’s a relatively new bar and it’s also open during the day for coffee. 

Reason to Go

The first thing that amazes me about K2 Café-Bar is that it’s situated in a renovated Venetian dockyard/arsenal. The Venetian dockyard — whose construction dates back to 1585 and was renovated in 2002 — hosts the Centre of Mediterranean Architecture and K2 Bar is located in a small part of it. The 400-year-old stone walls and the really high ceiling, in my opinion, make it unique in terms of interior design and atmosphere.

Regarding music, K2 Café-Bar makes an effort! There’s a different DJ every night, so you also need to be lucky to run into your favorite genre. Depending on the day and DJ, you might listen to house, electro, disco or something else. There are also some tables outside, facing the Old Port of Chania but a bit off the main pathway. If you want to take it easy, you can also sit outside and have drink while enjoying the sea-view. K2 bar serves all the regular drinks and cocktails and it also offers some house cocktails. When it comes to drinking, I’m not that risky or adventurous, but a good friend who is, has tried several of their house cocktails and has liked most of them! K2 bar is also popular during the winter months. The place is stylish but not posh; mainstream, but not extremely so.
