Kibar – Charles Monastery Bar
Charles Monastery, or Monastiri tou Karolou, is a spacious café-bar located on the popular Daliani street in the Old City of Chania. As the name suggests, the bar is a converted Catholic monastery which was built the 16th century.
Reason to Go
Charles Monastery has an amazing atmosphere and decor. You can admire the 16th century stone walls and the beautiful arcades while enjoying your cocktail. The bar is basically located in the old monastery’s yard so it’s open-air with a stone floor and an old well in the midst of the tables. The lighting is romantic, and pink bougainvilleas and olive trees add a rustic touch. Though sometimes the music can be loud, it’s a relaxed place where you can chit chat with your friends and enjoy the atmosphere.
