Koukouvagia Chania
Koukouvagia, which means owl in Greek, is a café located on Akrotiri hill, about a 20-minute drive from downtown Chania. Koukouvagia is a local favorite and, for that reason, is a place that will be completely packed on a Sunday afternoon.
Reason to Go
People go to Koukouvagia for two reasons: first, to enjoy the amazing view and, second, to taste their delicious sweets. From the café’s balcony, you get a stunning panoramic view of Chania. You’ll be amazed at how big Chania looks from above. On one side, you’ll be able to spot the Old Port of Chania and, from the other side, you’ll get a view of the mountains surrounding the city. The café is famous for its sweets and I totally recommend the “zoumero”, a mouthwatering chocolate cake! The portions are quite big, so you could order one to share if you’re two people.
