Gagarin 205
Gagarin 205 is a music venue, a bit off from the center, on Liosion Street, where numerous events take place from stand-up comedy to several types of live music events. It’s a place where you would expect a famous band to have its concert while in Athens.
Reason to Go
If one of your favorite bands is playing you should definitely visit. The acoustics are very good, and what could be better than seeing a band you love while being on holiday? The space, in my opinion, is an ideal size for a music venue; neither enormous nor small. The ventilation is also rather good so I usually find myself appreciating the comfort while enjoying a concert.
Highs & Lows
Famous international and Greek bands.
Big space - specializes in bigger scale concerts but also organizes smaller gigs.
It’s not located downtown per se, but it’s not extremely far away from the center, either.
It is not dangerous, but it’s best to be careful of some dodgy streets around the neighborhood. If you don't know your way on foot, just get a cab - it’s not that expensive to get there from downtown.
Crowd and Style
Young people or young-at-heart people. The crowd totally depends on the band playing or the event that is taking place. Even though I find that there is a small preference for rock-indie-alternative bands, they organize concerts of various music genres.
