Synagogi
Synagogi is one of the oldest and most classic bars in Chania. As you might have guessed from the name, it’s an old synagogue, transformed into a bar. It’s located on an alley off the Old Port of Chania, on its western side.
Reason to Go
Sinagogi’s location is absolutely stunning! The open-air bar is situated in the ruins of an old synagogue, it’s surrounded by old stone walls and is decorated with flowers and candles. The space looks like a garden from a fairy tale. If you sit at one of the tables, you get the feeling that you’re at an easy-going café; while if you sit at the bar, the music will be louder and you’ll feel more like you’re in an actual bar. People sitting next to the bar sometimes dance a bit. Music wise, Synagogi usually plays popular, pop tunes or some sort of electro-Latin or plain Latin. Every now and then, I enjoy some Latin tunes, but when going out it’s not usually my top choice. Nevertheless, Synagogi bar is a must if you’re in Chania as the scenery and yard are so beautiful.
