Oinoscent

Oinoscent is a wine bar located just a breath away from Syntagma. ‘Oinos’ means wine in Greek, so the name of the bar (which Greeks pronounce ‘innocent’) is pretty descriptive on its own. It has a wonderful selection of wines and it was one of the first wine bars, if not the first, to open in Athens.

Reason to go

Its location, close to Syntagma Square, is convenient. Wine enthusiasts will enjoy the wide selection of quality labels and the knowledgeable staff. The menu also features some tasty snacks. Sometimes the owners organize wine tasting nights in collaboration with some Greek wineries, but I think the number of guests is limited and I’m not sure how often these events take place. Prices are slightly on the higher end of the spectrum but the quality justifies the increase.
