Galaxy Bar & Restaurant – Hilton Athens
Galaxy Bar is the bar/restaurant located on the Roof Garden of the Hilton hotel in Athens. Its prices are higher than average (which is kind of expected when you go for a drink to a 5-star hotel) but if you feel like treating yourself, the magnificent view of the Acropolis is worth it.
Reason to Go
It is a classic choice if you want to visit an upscale bar in Athens that will be relaxing and will give you some space and privacy, unless of course they are having an event or a party. At Galaxy bar, you will experience exceptional service along with a superb view of the Acropolis.
Highs & Lows
Amazing view of the Acropolis and the city. When the weather is nice you are able to sit outside on the terrace.
You can pay with a credit/debit card.
If you are tired of the hustle and bustle of Athens, it is an ideal place to relax.
It is a bar in a 5-star hotel, which means not many people can afford to get drunk there.
Even though it is centrally located, it is a 10-15 minute walk from Syntagma.
Tip
I prefer to visit it on Friday-Saturday nights during spring-summer. I love the atmosphere on the terrace and I find the number of guests optimum.
Crowd and Style
It depends on the day you go and whether there is an event. Generally, expect to see professionals in their 30s, 40s or 50s and a clientele that can afford to pay €10 euros for a drink. For example, it is possible you will stumble upon co-workers having drinks and charging the company card, etc. It is also frequented by foreigners visiting Greece for business, or expats. Hilton also happens to be the hotel where all the negotiations between the Greek government and Troika took place. I once ran into Poul Thomsen in the elevator.
Distance
17 min walk from Syntagma - €3.5 by Taxi.
