Handlebar

Handlebar is a tiny place in Psyrri, owned by a good friend of a good friend of mine, named Gareth! Gareth is from the UK and he started this small café-bar right next to his popular bike shop. One of the reasons he opened Handlebar was that he wanted to provide a relaxed place where people could hang out and order a pint for a lower price than you’d typically find in Greek bars (where beer isn’t that cheap).

Reason to go

It is a street bar which, due to its small size, means that, people literally hang out on the street. The atmosphere is relaxed and the drink prices are reasonable. Because the bike shop is located next door, it is possible that you’ll see some cyclists. The place also offers a lovely English brunch for €5 or less, depending on your choice, as well as vegetarian options, cold beer, tasty coffee, and bagels. Sometimes they organize gigs that take place on the street, which is unique when you consider that the location is not a pedestrian street, but a narrow street where cars rarely pass.
